IntroductionDuring the course of diabetes mellitus, acute metabolic complications may arise, regardless of the type of diabetes, and may be the cause of increased mortality. They are severe, can lead to coma and death and require urgent treatment; some complications are directly related to the disease: diabetic ketoacidosis and hyperosmolar coma; others are related to the treatment: lactic acidosis and hyperglycemic coma.Overall objective:To study acute metabolic complications of diabetes mellitus in our study setting ;Specific objectivesTo determine the epidemiological profile of patients with acute metabolic complications of diabetes mellitus at the General Referral Hospital of Malemba;To determine the prevalence of acute metabolic complications of diabetes mellitus in our study settingStudy periodOur study period is from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2020.
