Medicinal plants have been used therapeutically all around the world and are an important aspect of various traditional medicine systems. Herbal medicines showed safety, efficacy, cultural acceptability and lesser side effects than synthetic drugs. Since ancient times, many active compounds originated from natural sources that have been used for the management of pain. The numbers of chemical compounds, found within the plant are supposed to have better compatibility with the human body. The book provides studies of some medicinal plants that have potential analgesics and antiinflammation effects i.e sugar palm (Arenga pinnata), red ginger (Zingiber officinale var rubrum) and noni (Morinda citrofilia). The book also provides information about the mechanism and management of pain, process and management of inflammation, natural products as an analgesic and antiinflammation, and extraction and phytochemical screening for medicinal plants.

Dr Evi Sovia, dr., MSi, born in Bandung Indonesia, on November 9th, 1976, finished medical doctor at Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Padjadjaran, Indonesia in 2001. Magister of Science and Doctoral degrees were obtained from the School of Pharmacy, Bandung Institute of Technology, Bandung, Indonesia in Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy field.
