Approaching Dynamic PSA within CANDU 6 NPPs
Details
Due to numerous weaknesses of the classical PSA method it evolved the need to develop an integrated deterministic-probabilistic method that reflects better the plant state during accidental situations. The integrated deterministic-probabilistic method is called Dynamic PSA. The present book is an attempt to approach Dynamic PSA in generic CANDU 6 reactor design. The book addresses a secondary transient, i.e. Loss of Feedwater and a Station Blackout accident. The phenomena of the accidents is coupled to the logic-probabilistics of the plant, including plant systems and operator actions. The results of such an integrated deterministic-probabilistic approach provide better inputs for decision making process. The Dynamic PSA is not meant to replace the classic PSA method, but to become a complementary tool to the classical PSA used for new reactor designs or plant safety operation improvements. The book is addressed to engineers involved in nuclear safety analysis both deterministic and probabilistic and also to decision making factors that base their decisions on nuclear safety analysis results.
