Christel Kasselmann war viele Jahre Redakteurin der Wasserpflanzen-Zeitschrift "Aqua-Planta" und ist Beirätin mehrerer Aquaristik-Zeitschriften. Sie gilt in Fachkreisen als Expertin für Aquarienpflanzen. Auf vielen Tropenreisen hat sie die Wasserpflanzen an ihren natürlichen Standorten studiert und neue wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse gewonnen.
