In the 1950s the squad twice ended up in fourth place at the Pan American Games (1955 and 1959). The dominant forces in men's volleyball in North and Central America are Cuba and the United States. The Men's Pan-American Volleyball Cup is a Continental Cup organized by NORCECA with teams from North- and Central America, and the Caribbean, to qualify for the America's Cup. The women have their own equivalent of the tournament, the Women's Pan-American Cup.
