Factors Causing Delay in Construction Projects

This book presents the speed of construction methods which are the conventional system, cast-in-situ method, composite methods, and the Industrialized Building System; including the factors causing delay in construction projects and the factors that affect the speed of IBS. Moreover, this book presents factors that causing delay in construction projects in Malaysia which were 31 factors. These factors were grouped into four major categories by responsibility; contractor factors, owner factors, consultant factors and external factors. Moreover, the factors that affect the speed of IBS consist of 6 main factors namely: high productivity of structural elements, using of moulds, using of new equipments and technology, workers skills and experience, equipments and mechanical plants used, and the materials used.

Dr. Wäel Alaghbari obtained his B.Sc. with the first honor degree in Architectural Engineering from Sanäa University, Yemen in 1995. He got his M.Sc. in Project Management in 2005 and his PhD in Architectural Studies 2010 from University Putra Malaysia UPM. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in Architecture Department, Sana'a Univesity.
