Fluid-Structure Interaction Problems: Theory and Experiments
Details
Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) is the interaction of some deformable or movable structure with an internal or surrounding fluid flow. This interaction is an interdisciplinary subject of interest to many researchers in several scientific fields since it involves coupled multiphysics between the laws that describe fluid dynamics and structural mechanics. Therefore, in recent years, the development and application of analytical, numerical and experimental methodologies dedicated to explore the underlying physics of the phenomena related to fluid-structure interaction have been built up.In this book, emphasis is made on two examples of profoundly different fluid-structure interaction problems that, even if are solved with different methods and techniques, both highlight the increasing need to develop accurate and reliable models to study the complex phenomena related to fluid-structure interaction problems in the most disparate technological applications.
Autorentext
Angelo Campanale is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Polytechnic of Bari, involved in a project dealing with viscoelastic lubricated contact mechanics. He gained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 2021. His fields of research are linear and nonlinear vibrations, modal analysis, fluid-structure interaction, tribology and contact mechanics.
