Leobardo López García (born September 4, 1983 in Cortijo Viejo, Michoacán) is a Mexican football defender. He currently plays for C.F. Pachuca in Mexico. He received first cap at the friendly match against China on April 16, 2008. He scored his first goal with Mexico against Ecuador and also added an assist to the winning goal, the result was 2-1. Within the sport of association football, a defender is an outfield player whose primary role is to prevent the opposition from attacking. There are four types of defender: centre back, sweeper, full back, and wing back. The centre back and the full back positions are essential in most modern formations. The sweeper and wing back roles are more specialized for certain formations.
