Public relations experts and crisis management personnel have done an excellent job over the years of drawing attention to the grand scope of risks associated with crisis. Particularly in the present challenging economic conditions, organizations have become aware of the costs of crises and are willing to put forth effort and resources in crisis prevention. Bolanle A. Olaniran is a Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Texas Tech University. His work has received the American Communication Association s Outstanding Contribution Award. David E. Williams was a faculty member of the Department of Communication Studies at Texas Tech University. He is currently a communication consultant in St. Louis, Missouri. W. Timothy Coombs is a Professor in the Nicholson School of Communication at the University of Central Florida. He is the 2002 recipient of the Jackson Jackson & Wagner Behavioral Science Prize from the Public Relations Society of America for his crisis research.
