Protection of Proteins from Degradation in the Ruminant Rumen. Part 1
Details
Several studies have confirmed the increase in dry matter intake, the rate of daily weight gain and the efficiency of nutritional conversion when adding the undegradable protein in the rumen to the diet, as ruminant animals require two types of proteins. The first is a protein that is degradable in the rumen that is used by microorganisms to produce Microbial protein, and the second is the protein that escaped from degradation in the rumen that is digested in the small intestine and is used by the animals themselves. The speed of degradation of protein sources in the rumen of ruminants reduces the efficiency of using them. Therefore, many researches have been conducted to obtain better and faster growth of calves and lambs as well as higher production for milk by increasing the amount of protein reaching the small intestine of ruminants by reducing the speed of protein degradable inside the animal's rumen and in various ways such as treatment with formaldehyde, heat, roasting and blood as the protection of rapidly degradation proteins either by heat, formaldehyde or whole blood increases the utilization of proteins or the amino acid available to the host animal
