Revision of the history of Tango

This book is an attempt to dive into the roots of tango to help understanding how such a characteristic style originated: where came this african-named style from? Which mixture allowed tango to emerge? How did this unprecedented phenomenon occur? What was the uplift? Which were the influences? Which idiosyncrasy accompanied this process? Which social background escorted its evolution? It's an invitation to spy into the historical foundation of tango to reconstruct the history, the development and the actuality of a music and dance style, which remains over the times one of the strongest basis of Argentina's culture and even a cliché of its capital, Buenos Aires. From the origins through the lyrics, the dance, vocal- or instrumental tango, the typical instruments and ensembles in each decade, the influence and repercussion of tango and its connection to other styles.

Fatima El Kosht was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2005 emigrated to Austria, where she studied composition. She is actually active as an independant composer and arranger and as songwriter and multiinstrumentalist in several ensembles of latinamerican fusion, and develops interdisciplinary performances with live music and visuals arts.
