It is my pleasure to introduce the book entitled "Sanitation and Hygiene: findings from the tribal areas, Andhra Pradesh," promotes interdisciplinary research and contributes to conceptual respects of intervention and preventive measures, therefore lead to a better lifestyle for indigenous or tribal communities in India, particularly Araki-Paderu tribal belt of newly carved AP State. During the last six decades, sanitation and hygiene standards have improved, these remains a need to safeguard the health status of tribal populations against communicable diseases. This book discusses about the role of personal hygiene and sanitation practices on tribal life course as well as health and well-being. It has more significance of the close relationship between source of water for domestic use, access and quality of drinking water, Hygiene, sanitation and human activities to the disease. The findings provide a comprehensive understanding of the interconnection among many factors associated to water, hygiene and sanitation borne diseases. These research outcomes through a Mixed Methods employed in anthropological approach including a systematic archives, FGDs and in-depth interviews.

El Dr. Appalanaidu Pappala, antropólogo aplicado, especializado en antropología biomédica, es el estudio holístico y comparativo de los aspectos biológicos y culturales. El Dr. Pappala está realizando un extenso trabajo de campo sobre la salud de las tribus en los Ghats orientales del estado de Andhra Pradesh y Telangana, en el sur de la India.
