Software as a Service model to deliver ERP software to SMEs
Details
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have many problems in their day-to-day operations. Some of them can be solved by adoption of Information Systems (IS). Information Systems adoption by SMEs can also be a problem in that there is high cost involved, lack of time and making choice of the system. Many SMEs in Kenya have even greater problems of not having power for the computers and IS skilled personnel. Software as a Service (SaaS) is a new mode of software delivery over the Internet where the customers do not install the software in their IS premises. This model has proven to be popular with the SMEs as it solves most of their problems related with software s such as acquisition of expensive servers to run the software, getting the right IS personnel to employ, tracking of the back-ups, accessibility of the application over many areas and security issues. SaaS architecture currently is being used to deliver almost all types of software apart from the Operating Systems
