Increased loads on power transmission line impose thermal and mechanical stress risks which can be mitigated by developing computational model for better scheduling of line inspections and maintenance. This book introduces a novel methodology for spatial analysis of conductor thermal aging at three different levels: point, line, and area, based on weather data. By utilizing this paradigm, the thermal state of an energized transmission line can be visualized which initiates a new dimension in thermal aging research. An advanced model for dynamic re-rating of existing transmission lines is also introduced in the book which helps to reduce the risk of sag of transmission line.

Mafijul Bhuiyan received the B.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Eng. from Shah Jalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh and the M.Sc. degree in Software Eng. and intelligent systems from the University of Alberta, Canada, in 2011. His research work is focused on spatial analysis of thermal aging of overhead power transmission lines.
