Genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity are the crimes that threaten the security and peace of the international community. These crimes must not go unpunished, and with the establishment of the ICC, individuals committing these crimes would be held responsible to the entire world community.The primary objectives of this book are:to identify and examine steps which led to the establishment of the ICC, including the Nuremberg and Tokyo war crime tribunals, International Criminal Tribunals for Former Yugoslavia and Rwanda;to identify and examine the basic issues connected with the establishment of the ICC, including the organization of the court, its jurisdiction, applicable law, admissibility, crimes within the jurisdiction of the court, investigation and prosecution by the court, and international cooperation and assistance;to identify and examine the implications of the establishment of the ICC including the concept of universal jurisdiction;to identify and examine the controversies connected with the establishment of the ICC;to identify and examine the prospects of the establishment of the ICC.
