Theatre for Women Empowerment and Development

This book is designed to address issues on women and women s participation in politics; especially, women in rural areas who have been marginalized. Since the empowerment of women in different spheres of life has become a center of interest in today s world, this book is highly relevant to researchers in the area of gender, women empowerment, gender and politics, government officials, different political parties, policy makers, civil societies, gender activists, training and research institutions to understand the effectiveness of theatre in promoting and improving women participation in politics. The book gives reasons why women in Africa particularly in Tanzania do not participate effectively in politics and decision making organs and it becomes difficult for them to influence changes in social, economic and political structures prevailing in the society.

Julieth Timoth Kabyemela is working as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Art, Media and Design at the University of Dodoma. She holds Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Degree in Fine and Performing Arts and Masters in Development Studies Degree from the University of Dar es Salaam. She is specialized in Arts, Theatre, Gender and Development.
