The present investigation has proved that Stark-Einstein and Lambert-Beer s law Equation could be used to explain the kinetics of photolysis of phenol in a wider concentration ranging from 600 to 100 ppm using 8 W and 15 W UV lamp. A mechanism has been proposed and verified satisfactorily.The performance of annular reactor as a batch, flow and recirculated batch reactors was evaluated. The behaviors of batch and flow reactors were similar and were superior to recirculated batch reactor.The increase in path length was found to decrease the performance. This effect was explained in terms of the number of times the photons supplied equal to the number of molecules in a given reaction time.A variable path length annular reactor has been fabricated and its performance as a batch and flow reactors has been found to be better than that of constant path length annular batch or flow reactor.
