The Role of Orthodontics in Temporomandibular Disorders

Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are considered to be a set of muscle and joint disorders involving the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). There are several causes cited for the dysfunction, as well as its treatment. Is orthodontic treatment the cure? Or is it the cause? As this is a multifactorial dysfunction, treatment involves a multidisciplinary approach.
