Details
The birth of a baby in a family brings along with it a range of reactions, responses and experiences. The book tries to explore these changes in the lives of the parents and the child when the child has some sort of disability. The reactions of the parents with affect not only their lives but would have a great impact on the child's development. Therefore the concept of acceptance, and how this stage of acceptance is reached has been demonstrated in the book. The study is done in the slums of Mumbai, India where it is all the more difficult to accept the situation due to the limitations of resources.
Autorentext
Tanu Goel has completed her post graduation in social work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The book was written as one of the requirements of the degree. She chose to study the Parental acceptance for children with disabilities specifically in the slums of Mumbai, India. She thoroughly enjoyed the process and learned a lot.
