Mushroom production is a potential biotechnological process wherein the waste plant materials or negative value crop residues can be converted into valuable food. in recent years mushroom production in India has witnessed a tremendous growth with respect to the type of mushrrom and their productivity. The mushroom market is growing continously mainly due to increasing interest in their culinary, nutritional and health benefits. On recognizing the importance of mushroom as an eco-friendly alternative for agro waste recycling, capability to provide better nutrition for the vaste vegetarian population and employment generation many government and non- government training institutes promoting mushroom cultivation. Mushroom production needs hardwork, dedication and care. Production techniques of mushroom depend on the type of mushroom. Value addition can be act as a catalysts in enhancing the mushroom production in India. Training institutes should focous on the need of the present and future mushroom producers.
