Assisting Counselors in Moral Distress

When a mental health professional is prevented from delivering the type or level of care he or she determines a patient needs, a seldom-recognized moral crisis ensues as these caregivers begin to experience the cumulative effects of an inner conflict between their sense of purpose and their ability to act on it. This book expands the concept of Moral Distress, originally identified and researched in nursing, to include mental health counselors in order to promote early detection and intervention.
