Career Development among Women Academicians

Few women continue their studies to establish their career as academicians and occupy senior academic positions in Uganda Universities. This study explores the experience of Ugandan women academicians in universities in Uganda. Specifically it provides the contributing factors towards the career development of Ugandan women academicians. The findings are a guide to women who have the will to build their career to high academia, and higher education in general. The study revealed that the contributing factors towards career development of Uganda women academicians include: personal factors, support by important people, conducive institutional environment, and financial support. Women develop their career amidst challenges, and the study highlights coping strategies to these challenges.
Autorentext
Amina studied at Kibuli demonstration school, Kibuli secondary school and joined Makerere University for her Bachelor of Arts with Education degree and later master of Education in Educational foundations and management. She went for her PhD education at International Islamic University Malaysia.
