Details

Various extracts of plants have been used in traditional medical systems for centuries. Bangladeshi medicinal plants have received considerable attention from the researchers for evaluation of their bioactivity. My project work has been designed to investigate anti-oxidant and antimicrobial activity of the ethanolic extract of Lasia spinosa (Family- Araceae). In the free radical scavenging activity test (DPPH assay) the extract showed weak antioxidant activity. When given in combination with the extract, it increased the zone of inhibition of standard antibiotic disk and the extract itself showed no zone of inhibition indicating potentiating effect.
