Details

Development of self-knowledge specific to gender as a category applied to self and others is quite an interesting area of study among preschoolers and first and second grade children aged 4,5,6 and 7.By that age many of these children have not yet acquired the concept of gender consistency hence can be easily tricked by certain transformations. It should also be noted that there is no orderly progression of children through the stages in as far as elf knowledge is concerned, since no developmental trend was detected in the cross-sectional study. This is fertile ground for more interesting research for the benefit of early childhood developers.
