Community Policing in a Democratic Society
Details
Community Policing has become the new orthodoxy for cops. One reason for its popularity is that it is a plastic concept, meaning different things to different people. This book gives primary attention to the impact of community policing on neighborhoods and individual residents and the various factors which can make it effective or ineffective. Apart from giving the reader an international perspective on community policing, this book also examines some of the theories of community policing that are apparent in public policy and police practice. Chapter five of the book focuses on the findings from empirical studies which can give the academic scholars and community experts an opportunity to discuss key issues and concerns about community policing at this point in the reform movement.
