Located in the heart of the African continent, the Central African Republic has been weakened by decades of armed conflict following various military coups. The consequences have been dramatic in social and humanitarian terms.Porous borders have encouraged the proliferation of armed groups throughout the country, illegal arms trafficking, illegal mining, armed transhumance, conflicts between herders and farmers, conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) and gender-based violence (GBV).
