Das Emanzipationsedikt von 1812 in Preußen

Two-hundred years after the issuance of the Edict concerning the civil rights of Jews in the Prussian state, the thirteen essays in this volume examine the Prussian emancipation model with the benefit of previously unresearched sources. Starting from the situation facing Prussian Jews at the time of King Friedrich II, the contributors explore the question of what new options the Edict opened up for the Jews and which constraints they continued to face as before.

200 Jahre nach dem Erlass des Edikts, betreffend die bürgerlichen Verhältnisse der Juden in dem preußischen Staate beleuchten dreizehn Beiträge unter Verwendung bisher nicht ausgewerteter Quellen dieses Emanzipationsmodell. Ausgehend von ihrer Situation zur Zeit Friedrichs II. wird der Frage nachgegangen, welche Möglichkeiten das Edikt für die Lage der Juden mit sich brachte und welche Grenzen es nach wie vor gab. Auch wird der Blick auf andere Territorien gelenkt, in denen ebenfalls über Emanzipation diskutiert worden ist.
