DRAMA IN EDUCATION

This book discusses "Takalani Sesame" the South African version of "Sesame Street", the famed American children's television programme. Its focus is on the interaction between the dramatic elements of the programme and its educative content. The use of muppets as characters, the creation of storylines that communicate favorably to pre-schoolers and an analysis of lyrics from the programme are discussed. Fred Mbogo holds a Masters of Arts Degree (Dramatic Arts) from University of The Witwatersrand - School of Arts, Johannesburg. He lectures drama studies at Moi University. He is a playwright whose plays have toured The Kenya National Theatre and Alliance Francaise in Nairobi. He is a 2008 winner of "The Fire By Ten" play writing competition.
