This book offers new perspectives on the economic development of the Middle East and North Africa region. Offering both theoretical studies and empirical country studies, it examines micro- and macroeconomic issues and provides deep insights into the development challenges and prospects of various countries in the region. The articles examine a wide range of development issues, including economic growth, natural resource use, food security, poverty and inequality, corruption and transparency, military spending, water and resource scarcity, agriculture and aid effectiveness, and other relevant issues. The volume is aimed at scholars in economic and development studies as well as policy-makers and investors interested in the economic development of the MENA region.

Autorentext

Dr. Mohamed Sami Ben Ali is a professor of Economics at Qatar University. Previously, he was Head of the economics department and member of the scientific board at HEC Business School, Tunisia. Dr. Ben Ali is serving as associate editor for Springer and De Gruyter journals and editor for Palgrave and Springer books series. He holds a H.D.R degree, the highest European qualification for research. Previously, he received a Ph. D. in Economics with high honors from University of Lille - France, an M. Phil. (D.E.A) in International Finance and International Trade and a B.A. in Business Economics. He has been teaching for the past years at graduate and undergraduate levels in Tunisia, Qatar and France where he was a visiting Professor. He has published numerous articles in French and in English in international refereed academic journals. His research and Publications focuses mainly on economic development and international monetary macroeconomics. He is actively participating and chairing in numerous international conferences.
