An emulsion is a colloidal dispersion of one liquid (disperse phase) in another (continuous phase). Emulsion can occur during oil lifting, transporting or processing. The production of emulsion is a costly problem both in terms of chemicals use to overcome the problem and production loses. Since it is not allowed by an environmental rules and regulations to discharge oily emulsion to dump, river or lakes. This book introduces an alternative, cost effective and high energy generation technology (microwave) for demulsification of crude oil emulsions.
