Enantioselective Organocatalyzed Reactions II
Details
This two-volume set presents a timely summary of organocatalysed reactions. Topics include enantioselective C-C bond formation processes, asymmetric enantioselective reduction and oxidation processes, asymmetric epoxidation, Bayer-Villiger oxidation, enantioselective a-functionalization, and more.
Organocatalyzed Reactions I and II presents a timely summary of organocatalysed reactions including: a) Enantioselective C-C bond formation processes e.g. Michael-addition, Mannich-reaction, Hydrocyanation (Strecker-reaction), aldol reaction, allylation, cycloadditions, aza-Diels-Alder reactions, benzoin condensation, Stetter reaction, conjugative Umpolung, asymmetric Friedel-Crafts reactions; b) Asymmetric enantioselective reduction processes e.g. Reductive amination of aldehydes or ketones, asymmetric transfer hydrogenation; c) Asymmetric enantioselective oxidation processes;
d) Asymmetric epoxidation, Bayer-Villiger oxidation; e) Enantioselective a-functionalization; f) A-alkylation of ketones, a-halogenation and a-oxidation of carbonyl compounds.
Promotes and focuses on the use and deployment of organocatalysts in organic reactions Summarizes and discusses the most recent literature in this quickly evolving field Highlights Organocatalysis as a powerful tool for solution of many long-standing problems in organic synthesis Helps to develop new catalysts as well as new fields of applications in organic synthesis A reference to students, doctoral students, and chemists both in industry and in academia

Dr. Rainer Mahrwald Dr. Rainer Mahrwald was born in 1950. He studied chemistry at MLU Halle and subsequently joined the Manfred von Ardenne Research Institute in Dresden, where he led the synthetics group. He gained his doctorate under G. Wagner in Leipzig in 1979, and went on to the Institute of Organic Chemistry at the Academy of Science in Berlin, where he remained until 1990. Following a stay at the Philipps-University in Marburg, Dr. Mahrwald qualified as a lecturer at the Humboldt University Berlin, where he is now a lecturer.
Klappentext
Organocatalysis has emerged as one of the hot topics in organic chemistry in recent years, as confirmed by the rapid-growing interest that researchers have shown in this field.
Enantioselective Organocatalyzed Reaction Volume I and II provides a critical review of the state-of-the-art developments in Organocatalysis, with a special focus on the asymmetric transformation that it enables. These volumes, written by leading experts in the field, discuss a broad range of synthetic transformations and offer an up-to-date coverage of organocatalyzed reactions such as:
• Conjugate addition;
• Aldol addition;
• Oxidation;
• Reduction;
• Cycloaddition;
• Mannich reaction;
• Asymmetric f untionalization;
• Enantioselective protonation;
• General aspects of asymmetric cyclization;
• Asymmetric desymmetrization processes.
By presenting a complete panorama of the use of organocatalysts in organic reaction, Enantioselective Organocatalyzed Reaction will help the global audience of scientists engaged in this area of research to develop new catalysts as well as new fields of applications in organic synthesis.
