Tribal regions of India is a reservoir of traditional knowledge that are of great importance for mankind. Traditional knowledge of tribal communities includes medicinal plants and its use which has been used for their therapeutic purposes. Over exploitation of natural resources due to increase in population has lead to many medicinally important plants on the verge of extinction. This book attempts to document the ethnobotanical knowledge of medicinal plants found in forest of Amarkantak region used by Baiga tribe of central India and helps to understand the importance of some of these medicinal plants that are known to grow only in their indigenous regions.

Shivesh Sharma is Associate Professor and presently serving as Head, Department of Biotechnology, Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad. His research interests are in the area of Environmental Microbiology with a focus on plant microbe interactions and rhizosphere microbiology.He has published over 50 research papers.
