Details

Impinging streams belong to a class of unique flow
configurations that has proved very effective when
being applied to a wide array of
chemical/biochemical engineering unit operations.
This book presents a thorough study of some
important transport characteristics of impinging
streams, which are necessary to understand the
behavior of this highly complex flow configuration.
The topics include laminar and turbulent single-
phase impinging streams as well as turbulent gas-
solid impinging streams. One of the unique features
of the book is the inclusion and illustration of the
use of mathematical models to effectively simulate
the transport phenomena within impinging streams.
The models are also used to illustrate the
feasibility of using impinging streams in various
engineering unit operations, namely, liquid mixing
and solids drying. Detailed experimental procedures
that can be applied for future study of impinging
streams are also given.
