Improved Local Chicken Rearing in Uganda
Details
While farming innovations have been undertaken, aimed at boosting unit production, factors affecting the innovation adoption have had little attention. Experience has shown that whereas the benefits of innovations to the intended beneficiaries are obvious; often there is no corresponding interest from the beneficiaries. This has caused frustrations among the research scientists, social workers and policy implementers. This book is based on study conducted in Uganda; it examines the factors responsible for the improved local chicken rearing innovations. Statistical analysis revealed the relationship of the socio-demographic and socio-economic factors, and the innovation adoption. The analysis attempts to identify key considerations while implementing the poultry innovations. This book is useful to animal husbandry scientists (at both research stations and the field), innovation specialists, government departments and policy implementers. Rural based NGOs implementing community livelihood activities; no doubt will find the book resourceful. Attempt has been made to simplify and make it readable and understandable for academic and ordinary use.
