Investor protection is the driving force for the growth and development of capital market. Once the investors are assured that they are protected, they tend to invest with utmost confidence, which is a positive sign for a developing economy like India. Development if capital market and protection of investor's interest are coextensive. It accelerates the economic development by, firstly, increasing the savings; secondly it converts the savings into investment and thirdly, it eases the procedure of investment. In toto, it brings up productivity and increases economic development. The book centers on the protection of interest of investors in Indian capital market and the role of Securities Exchange Board of India and other regulatory bodies. It also emphasizes on the legal framework and the measures adopted therein; pertaining to the issue and challenges associated therewith. It is inspired by the fact that despite of having a history of over 125 years, Indian Capital Market lacks integrity and fairness and is prone to scams.
