Insufficiency Translation In Religious Texts

This book shows that translators are faced with overtranslation, undertranslation, mistranslation, and overlapping problems. These are caused by cultural differences, translator s linguistic incompetence, translator s background knowledge and experiences. Also there is several numbers of effects caused by the problems in the translation product. The effects include misleading believers, distortion of religious content and conflict of interest among believers. It is recommended that translators should improve their language proficiency, good understanding of both cultures, use test retesting method to evaluate their translation. Also translators should attend training on the use proper translation theory, avoiding freelance translation, as well as self interest. The book is helpful to all who are engaged in the field of translation such as students of translations, religious translators and other expertise in translation because it enables them to understand the causes, effects and solutions on how to overcome problems of translation in various texts.
