Integrating the Visual Arts

A direction towards integrating the visual arts with other fields of disciplines is a current trend in education. The rationale behind integrating disciplines is it will create connections and enhance learning and understanding. This method is in contrast to the traditional teaching approaches of separating disciplines and teaching isolated subjects. While benefits have been documented from the use of this method, some educators question the consequences. This book investigates this interdisciplinary teaching method in the form of an action research. It reveals actual responses and reactions from participating students and demonstrates how their responses were collected, interpreted, and calculated to determine the effectiveness of this method. This book will benefit teachers and administrators of all grade levels and subject areas as well as anyone who may be interested in learning more about the importance of the visual arts in education and or working on an action research of their own.
