Jaana Caspary

umformung is the first comprehensive monograph on the work of Wuppertal sculptor Jaana Caspary (b. 1988), whose abstract, monochrome sculptures made of cast acrylic resin, stone, or bronze have been causing a furor for several years now. Many of these sculptures, which are often accompanied by colored pencil drawings and photomontages, are characterized by the referencing of several related basic forms, each elaborate in itself. Jaana Caspary visualizes the presence of such modules in collective everyday life, but also in nature, repeatedly demonstrating the rich variety and complexity of their meanings. With a particular focus on the most recent exhibitions, umformung presents the most important groups of works and key pieces from Caspary's oeuvre of the last ten years.

Jaana Caspary wurde 1988 in Wuppertal geboren. Sie studierte von 2007 bis 2014 an der Kunstakademie Du sseldorf und ist Meisterschu lerin von Prof. Didier Vermeiren. Im letzten Jahr waren Jaana Casparys Skulpturen und Zeichnungen in der Einzelausstellung "ebenda" im Skulpturenpark Waldfrieden in Wuppertal zu sehen. Die vier Meter hohe Bronzeskulptur "upside down" hat einen festen Platz in einer der scho nsten und renommiertesten Skulpturensammlungen. Zu dem erhielt sie mehrere Kunstfo rderpreise und Stipendien. Zahlreiche Ausstellungen z.B im Lehmbruck Museum Duisburg, im Künstlerverein Malkasten e.V (Du sseldorf), im Kunstverein Schwäbisch Hall, in Wexford (Irland), Paris, Oviedo und Barcelona (Spanien) zeichnen den jungen Lebenslauf. Jaana Caspary lebt und arbeitet in Wuppertal.
