Details

CTEV is one of the most common foot deformities encountered in an orthopaedic practice. Despite the advances in the field of orthopaedics, the management of CTEV still remains controversial. This is an attempt to evaluate one of the commonly used conservative methods i.e. the Ponseti Technique in the treatment of CTEV and compare its results with those of other conservative techniques and surgical methods. Patients coming in the OPD were evaluated to rule out associated conditions and confirm a diagnosis of idiopathic CTEV. Scoring of the foot was done by the Pirani score and then the patients underwent treatment by the Ponseti technique and the results were statistically analysed. We were able to show a statistically significant improvement in the foot scores. Also in comparison to other manipulation techniques and surgical techniques the relapse rates and response rates were found to be much better in patients being treated by Ponseti technique.
