The study examined the perfomance of commercial banks and distress predictions in Tanzania. The study employed CAMELS model and statistical analysis for the financial status measurements and Z score model to test the financial distress in Tanzania.The author used the panel secondary data covering for the period of 2000-2010. USA and Europe financial crisis motivated the author to review the financial structure of commercial banks in Tanzania to confirm the contradictory thinking for the happened Saga. Despite the Crisis the commercial banks exhibited the financial stability and financial health due to the little intergration in international markets and low financial investments internationally, The author advice the bank of tanzania to strenghen their supervision requirements and review their regulations to abide with the current adopted BASEL III regulations to all commercial banks.
