NGOs has been viewed as a potential entity for participative, low cost development, innovation and the most important one is for delivery of services, due to the failure of government's ability to reach the population at large. Despite the being fact that the growth of NGOs in India is very uneven, government is implementing large number of development project through NGOs. The study is aimed to inquire the asserted potential of civil society i.e NGOs in the ingrained caste system and are working for the construction of more 'equal' and 'just' society.

Mamta Kashyap has Master in NGO management from London School of Economics. She has been working for more than 12 years in the area of women development, women rights, Civic Engagement, Social change and Social Justice.
