Nonprofit Executive: Circle of Support
Details
This book examines what nonprofit executive directors describe as key types and sources of support necessary to successfully perform the functions of their position. Further, this research considers reflections from nonprofit executives regarding barriers that keep them from receiving necessary support, as well as possible strategies for overcoming these obstacles. The results offer a window into the relationship between an executive s feeling of isolation, level of support and implications of both. Findings from the study suggest that the level of support an executive director does or does not receive influences job satisfaction. In addition, the executive directors responses suggest a correlation between level of support an executive director receives and overall organizational health. While the roles and responsibilities of an executive director can be overwhelming, receiving adequate support is one way to mitigate the stressors that accompany the position.
