Optimized Call Handoff Strategies for Mobile Cellular Communication

With the growth of mobile computing it has become extremely important to maintain continuous connectivity when a mobile host moves from one location to another. Thus call handoff has become an important factor. In this book, call handoff strategies are discussed. Few fuzzy logic based call handoff techniques are discussed which are proposed by the author. A variable hysteresis margin based call handoff scheme is also proposed in the work. The handoff techniques avoid both call termination and unnecessary handoff for high and low velocity mobiles respectively and thus efficiently utilizes radio channels.
