Details

Desire to model in ever increasing detail geometrical
and physical features has lead to a steady increase
in the number of points used in field solvers.
Sequential generation of meshes of large size is
extremely problematic both in terms of time and
memory requirements. The book gives the extensive
introduction to the subject of numerical grid
generation with the emphases on unstructured meshes.
Various approaches to domain decomposition and
partitioning criteria are described. Then detailed
explanation of the parallel mesh generation algorithm
proposed in this book is given. Special attention is
paid to implementation issues and coupling of
developed parallel grid generator with FEM solvers.
Several real-life examples are shown and questions
regarding time and memory consumption, efficiency of
computations and quality of generated meshes are
discussed. This book is of theoretical and practical
use to the people who are interested in modern and
leading-edge developments in mesh generation, domain
decomposition methods, distributed computing as well
as to mathematicians and engineers from adjoining
areas who do not have any background in this field,
but want to have a good start.
