Jordi Vallverdú, is a Tenured Professor at the Philosophy Department of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where he teaches philosophy and history of science and computing. His research focuses on the cognitive and epistemic aspects of the philosophy of computing, philosophy of science and AI, particularly emotional modeling. In 2011 he won a Japanese JSPS fellowship to pursue research on computational HRI at the Nishidalab, Kyoto University. His most recent books include Bayesians versus Frequentists. A Philosophical Debate on Statistical Reasoning (2016), and Blended Cognition: The Robotic Challenge (2019) both edited by Springer Verlag. He is currently working on biomimetic cognitive architectures and multi-cognitive systems, as well as on medical and epidemiological reasoning.
Angel Puyol is an Associate Professor at the Philosophy Department of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where he teaches ethics and political philosophy. His researchfocuses on the theories of justice and bioethics. He was a Visiting Scholar at the London School of Economics, New York University and La Sapienza (Roma). His most recent book is Political Fraternity. Democracy beyond Freedom and Equality (Routledge, New York, 2019), and he is currently investigating solidarity in health.
Anna Estany is an Emeritus Full Professor at the Philosophy Department of the Universitat Autònoma Barcelona. Her research focuses on cognitive approaches in epistemology and philosophy of science, as well as design sciences. She holds a Master of Arts from Indiana University, and a PhD from the Universitat of Barcelona, and she was a Visiting Scholar at the University of California San Diego. Her publications include Vida, muerte y resurrección de la conciencia. Análisis filosófico de las revoluciones científicas en la psicología contemporánea, (1999); Barcelona: Paidós, EUREKA?
