Phytoremediation Technology
Details
Biological approaches include use of micro-organisms to detoxify heavy metals, use of special type of plants to reclaim contaminated soil or water. This approach is referred as phytoremediation. This technology is cheaper, efficient and environmentally friendly. Phytoremediation has been used to clean up agrochemicals, many organic compounds, toxic heavy metals. The use of plants to remove all type of toxic pollutnats. The plants are used as filters for converting high toxic heavy metals into less harmful form. Further attempt has been also made to study the physiological response of some plant species under the influence of various concentrations of heavy metals such as cadmium, arsenic and mercury.
