Politics, Conflict and Peacebuilding in Uganda
Details
Politics, Conflict and Peacebuilding in Uganda examines the interplay of domestic and external factors in the National Resistance Army/Movement (NRA/M) insurgency and rule in Uganda. The book challenges the widely held view that successful capture of power by reformist insurgencies such as the NRA/M leads to reversal of the legacies of conflict and state collapse. It analyses the consequences of NRA/M insurgency and rule in northern Uganda, where characterisation of NRA/M rule as having brought peace and stability to Uganda very evidently does not apply. NRA/M insurgency and rule led to various outcomes. It resulted in reversal of legacies of conflict and state collapse in the southern Uganda, and state collapse in the north. These disparate outcomes are a result of the interplay of the behaviour of the NRA/M after it captured power, domestic politics and international contexts.
