The goal of this textbook is to introduce concepts of production planning and control. Starting with the basis of planning processes, relevant aspects of the information base, planning tasks and methods are addressed. The focus is set on concepts used in practice, like: MRP II, Kanban, ConWiP, Input-Output-Control, Workload Control, etc. Furthermore, developing concepts directed towards decentralization (Production Authorization Card system) and flexibility orientation (Opportunistic Planning and Scheduling) are explained.
Autorentext
John A. Buzacott is Professor Emeritus at the Schulich School of Business, York University, Toronto, Canada. After obtaining a Ph.D. from the University of Birmingham, England, he taught in the Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Toronto, from 1967 to 1983 and then in the Department of Management Sciences, University of Waterloo from 1984 to 1990. He was at York University from 1991 until 2002 when he became Professor Emeritus. He was awarded a Dr. h.c. by the Technical University of Eindhoven, The Netherlands in 2001, and he was President of POMS, the Production and Operations Management Society, in 1999.
