The research focuses on the reflective practice of economics pre-service teachers and their use of subject knowledge to teach economics and commerce during their teaching practice. The research highlights the paradoxical nature of economics as a subject discipline and the influence that it can have on pre-service teachers' conceptions of teaching economics and commerce. The purpose of this research is to ascertain the importance of subject knowledge use in pedagogy.

Rosmawijah Jawawi is a teacher educator at the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE), Universiti Brunei Darussalam. Rosmawijah successfully completed her PhD in economics education in 2009 at the Institute of Education, University of London.
