Response to Intervention
Details
Response to Intervention (RtI) is a current reform initiative being examined by educational think tanks, political emissaries and proponents of special interests.Essentially, RtI (Response to Intervention) is being heralded as an educational methodology to increase student achievement through systematic problem-solving and the implementation of specific interventions based on the child's individual needs.Currently, Response to Intervention advocates are utilizing a three-tier model incorporating general interventions for all students in the class followed by increasingly intensive and individualized interventions as students continue to demonstrate need. Developing a Response to Intervention plan is a highly individualized process depending on the needs of the school district. This study utilized a mixed research methodology incorporating both quantitative and qualitative components. Sixteen public school districts in northwest Indiana were researched and their progress documented in order to develop an informational resource collection.
